Collective actors in Sierra Leone

In order to provide space for meaningful dialogue and reflection on gender and gender inequality in Sierra Leone, including what works and does not work in addressing SGBV in Sierra Leone, and the different sets of challenges faced and successful interventions to learn from, Men’s Association for Gender Equality, Sierra Leone (MAGE-SL) and Institute of Development Studies, UK (IDS) co-hosted two ‘experience sharing’ workshops in Sierra Leone in June 2014. The workshops also introduced the key actors (organisations, institutions, groups or networks) who are working on addressing SGBV in Sierra Leone.

The following database of organisations in Sierra Leone introduces those key actors - including NGOs, feminist organisations, faith-based organisations, government ministries, the media and the police - who are working with men and boys to address GBV. The database showcases those organisations working in Freetown (the capital of Sierra Leone) to address SGBV at a national policy level, as well the local-level responses to SGBV among  community organisations, chieftancies, family service units, the police and local and district-level politicians in Moyamba (a rural area of Sierra Leone).
