Gender, work and welfare in changing urban contexts

A panel on ‘Gender, Work and Welfare in Changing Urban Contexts’ organised by the Urbanisation and Development Study Group will be part of the Development Studies Association’s conference in Oxford from 12-14 September. The panel scheduled for 13 September will include papers from Deepta Chopra (IDS) and Mubashira Zaidi (ISST) on Balancing unpaid care work and paid work in India' urban slums, Anweshaa Ghosh (ISST) on Trials and Tribulations - Domestic Workers' Claims Making in India, and Zahrah Nesbitt Ahmed (IDS) on Class Distinctions in Women's Experiences of Achieving a Work-Life Balance: Paid Domestic Workers and their Employers in Lagos, Nigeria.
