Country profiles

Our work on women's economic empowerment includes country-specific analysis and outputs. Here we provide background information, findings and advoacy work from all four focus countries. 

  • Collaborating with Institute of Social Studies Trust to research the social organisation of care and the balance between paid work and unpaid care work in India. IDS is also working with the Alliance for early Childhood Development to ensure the research findings inform women's economic empowerment policies and programmes.
  • IDS is working in partnership with BRAC-REU and ActionAid Rwanda to ensure uptake of our findings across organisations and beyond the project, so that it feeds directly back into women's economic empowerment programmes and interventions in Rwanda. We are also researching the social organisation of care and the balance between paid work and unpaid care work.
  • Working with BRAC-REU to research the social organisation of care and the balance between paid work and unpaid care work in Tanzania. IDS is also working with Oxfam Tanzania to ensure that the findings of the research inform policy and practice.
  • Researching the social organisation of care and the balance between paid work and unpaid care work. IDS is also working in collaboration with ISST and Oxfam Nepal to ensure the results of the study reach district and national levels and are used to inform advocacy.
